Michael Bernd Reuscher, Dipl.-Ing.
President
Mr. Reuscher graduated with a Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Technical University of Hamburg, Germany and served for 20 years in several Senior Executive positions with SIEMENS AG in Europe, South America and South-East Asia. In 1994, Mr. Reuscher immigrated to Canada as an entrepreneur. Since then, he has established, managed and served on the Board of several privately held Canadian Corporations, as well as publicly traded US Corporations.
Among several other appointments, Mr. Reuscher is the Past President of the German- Canadian Business and Professional Association of Alberta, the Founder and Chairman of the German-Canadian Advancement Foundation of Alberta (since 2004), and the Founder and President of the German-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (since 2009). From December 1, 2021 to April 14, 2022 Mr. Reuscher served as Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for Northern Alberta and the North-West Territories in Canada. Mr. Reuscher was also a member of the Senate and Board of Governors of the University of Alberta from 2008 to 2014. Through these activities, he has been profoundly involved in establishing, fostering and financially supporting cooperation and partnerships between universities and research organizations in Canada and Germany, as well as in promoting business to business relationships in both countries.
Mr. Reuscher was recognized as "Paul Harris Fellow" by the Rotary Club of Canada and received the "Saxonian Flood Medal" of the Free State of Saxony, Germany for assisting the flood victims of the City of Grimma in 2002. In 2012 he was awarded the "Cross of the Order of Merit" of the Federal Republic of Germany for significant contributions made in fostering the relationship between Canada and Germany.
Dr. Katelyn Petersen, PhD

Dr. Katelyn Petersen leitet seit März 2014 das German-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (GCCIR). Vor ihrer Tätigkeit beim GCCIR arbeitete Dr. Petersen bei der University of Alberta International als regionaler Koordinator für Europa. Hierbei managte sie die Partnerschaften und Initiativen der Universität mit verschiedensten europäischen Institutionen. Katelyn beendete 2007 ihr Masterstudium im Übersetzen. 2013 erhielt sie ihren Doktortitel in deutscher Gegenwartsliteratur gemeinsam von der University of Alberta und der Ludwig- Maximilians-Universität München. Dr. Petersen lebte, studierte und arbeitete in Deutschland. Sie spricht flieβend Deutsch.
Madeleine Streich, M.A.
Program Coordinator
Madeleine Streich ist in Berlin geboren und aufgewachsen. Im Jahr 2008 kam sie nach Kanada, wo sie ihren Bachelor in International Development Studies an der Trent University und ihren Master in Global Political Economy an der McMaster University absolvierte. Madeleine's Interesse für natürliche Wasserressourcen brachte sie an das United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health, wo sie Themen wie Klimawandel, erneuerbare Energie, virtueller Wasserhandel, Meerwasserentsalzung und -Landwirtschaftssysteme anhand von Fallstudien und Forschungsexkursionen untersuchte. Innovative Technologien wurden zu einem weiteren wichtigen Bestandteil ihrer Arbeit, besonders seit Beginn ihrer Arbeit beim GCCIR im September 2014. Nebenbei arbeitet Madeleine bei der Organisation Waterlution, die bei Events und Workshops lokale, nationale und globale Wasserthemen behandelt und Experten zum Dialog einlädt.
Jeremy Cherlet, B.A.
Project Assistant
Der gebürtige Albertaner Jeremy Cherlet beendete im Frühjahr 2014 sein Bachelostudium der Politikwissenschaften an der University of Alberta. Während seiner Studienzeit verbrachte Jeremy fast zwei Jahre in Deutschland. Er studierte zwei Semester an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München und absolvierte Praktika beim Bundestag und bei der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Neben der Arbeit beim GCCIR ist Jeremy als freier Schriftsteller tätig.
