Alberta-Germany technology commercialization program announces first round of projects
Four Alberta small to medium-sized enterprises have been selected to receive support for commercializing innovative products and services through the Alberta – Germany Collaboration Fund for Product Development and Commercialization.
The program is a partnership between Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education and the German-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (GCCIR) aimed at supporting joint research and commercialization activities between companies in Alberta and Germany in strategic areas of technology. The program enables Alberta companies in the areas of clean energy and environmental technology, advanced materials (including micro/nanotechnology), industrial bio-technology, health, and information and communication technology to access high-tech resources and European markets through a formal relationship with Germany.
The program will help participants become more globally competitive through developing technology and research-based alliances with the potential to increase international trade and economic growth and diversification. The program may also lead to the development of new models of collaboration between Alberta and Germany that leverage each partner’s respective research & technology capabilities, address common priorities, and accelerate technology commercialization.
The first joint Alberta – Germany projects have been selected through a competitive process by a committee of independent technology experts and will begin their collaboration on April 1st, 2013.
